Alright, well day two. I've figured out the tube and the busses.
Yesterday was rough. I arrived at 5 in the morning and made my way to my apartment by 7:30 only to discover there was no bedding or toilet paper.....I had to go find a place to buy bedding and toilet paper on no sleep or food. Basically I had a melt down for a little bit, and then got my act together, got directions from the front desk and left to find the stuff I needed. The store to get bedding was closed when I got there, so I got toilet paper and then came back and curled up on my mattress with my plane pillow...I was so anxious that I had to get up and throw up a couple times throughout my restless nap. Pitiful. When I woke up, I went back to the store to get some pillows and blankets as well as some food. Then I set up my bed and ate a little bit and took another nap. I then had to go BACK out for an orientation dinner thing. Turns out there are only 3 people in my program, including myself. Interesting. Their names are Adrian and Lauren. We all went to a pub after our meeting.
Today was much better. I actually ate something. I'm pretty settled in now even though its only day two--however that does not mean that I am not still a little anxious. I got my travel card for public transit today and figured out how to use the tube. I cant believe we don't have transit like that in the US. Its SO easy to go anywhere. I went to H&M and Top Shop (so big I couldn't even see the whole store). Everyone is SO well dressed. Heres the difference, America sells ugly clothing--London doesn't. If its there, someone will buy it and that is why there are poorly dressed people in the US and everyone in London looks good. Its pretty cool, I can't wait to look good everyday.
Overall, today was pretty laid back. Went to a little orientation meeting, did a little bit of minimal shopping for food and an adapter, then came home and took a nice long nap and set up my internet. London is really similar to Seattle actually. Just much larger, more efficient, and there are old european buildings along with new buildings.
